Its highly recommended to do the Drawing Foundation Course first, before you do the Portraiture package.
Learning to draw a face can be very difficult, but if you break up each segment that makes up a face, and you learn to draw each area well, then you can put it all together, and draw the whole face.
The idea behind this way of learning is to Draw one part, to another part, and then draw the whole. As you learn to do one part of the face well, you gain confidence so you can build upon what you have learned, and use that in the next part. We start with the nose, which has a wonderful structure, and is easier to draw than the mouth or the eye. Next we tackle the mouth, and you see me drawing a mouth form start to finish. You can draw with me bit by bit. The more you draw, the better you can get at it. The principles learned in the Drawing Foundation package will help you tremendously not to be intimidated by what you see, but to see everything as shapes, tones, and negative spaces.
After the nose and the mouth, we tackle the eye! What a wonderful challenge! There are at least 5 circles in the eye, so you have to be able to draw the circle well…then you can begin to learn to draw the eye. Yes, faces are difficult to learn to draw, but I still find drawing a portrait one of the most rewarding things that I can do as an artist. Let me take you by the hand, and step by step, video by video open up a whole new world of seeing. It will take perseverance, and a whole lot of trying, but I believe you can do it!
